They say our days are numbered,

We're not famous anymore

But Antwerp rules the country

like it’s always done before.

Royal Antwerp are so old, they started playing football when Queen Victoria still had 21 years of her reign left on the British throne.

The club was formed by English workers and they even had time to focus on cricket for many years before becoming handy at football.

The club’s nickname “The Great Old” reflects its long history and you will see the date of formation in 1880 inked on many supporters’ skins.

It was appropriate that Royal Antwerp played a friendly at Millwall then, two clubs with a strong fan culture, that haven’t always had the best time on the pitch but striving for success.

The Antwerp supporters met on the South of the River, drank many beers, sang many songs and did themselves proud.
