Not having qualified for the World Cup, the Faroe Islands are seeing their local league continue. In this country where football is an institution, 10% of the 55,000 inhabitants play the sport.

The stadia, set in breathtaking locations, are generally small (ranging from a few hundred to 5,000 seats).

Perched on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, between two towering mountains, the stadiums are situated in unique settings.

In Vestur, matches are played 100 metres from the sea, in Runavik right next to the port, and in Streymur, you can even watch the game from your car in a parking lot overlooking the stadium.

The passion can also be felt in the stands, as in Runavik where the local club has a real atmosphere of fan support with chants and drums.

It's even possible, due to the country's small size, to attend two matches in the same day by hopping from one island to another. Incredible.
