A palm across a shoulder blade

No patina on the crush barriers

cradled in hand

like an unspent 50p from nan

Nostalgia is for the old

a patchless ball dribbled down a dead end

Hill Dickinson is youth

bright sparks lit in green eyes

The light from a gas fire flickering

Switched on for a cold morning

A blue dawn rises.
